At your first appointment, your horse will be evaluated at rest. I will then carryout a dynamic assessment; watching him/her walk and trot up in a straight line and, if possible, lunge in walk, trot and canter. It’s handy to have your saddle and bridle available too, as I may need to watch you ride, if appropriate.
Based on my findings, I will carry out the necessary treatment for your horse. This initial appointment can take up to two hours and I’ll then prescribe some homework exercises for you to do with your horse.
I welcome video updates of your horse performing the homework exercises and I will provide feedback. I’ll schedule a follow up appointment within six to eight weeks of your horse’s first appointment.
As a RAMP registered equine physiotherapist, vet referred physiotherapist treatments are covered by most pet insurance companies.
